Packing for a Winter getaway

Updated: Jan 26, 2020

With winter in full swing, what a perfect time for a tropical getaway! Yes, my favorite thing to do - escape the rain and winter runny noses, and steal away to the warm sun and sand of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Only three hours away from the Bay Area, it's the perfect winter escape. The only downside to traveling this time of year to anywhere tropical is that it can be pretty pricey. While the flights are costly, you can find a reasonably priced place to stay.

As I get ready to do my favorite trip-planning activity, PACKING, I peruse poshmark for any last minute necessities. Check out some of these travel goodies that I came across...

How perfect is this Multi-pocket cross body bag. Its small, and cross body is the best type of bag for traveling. Keep your valuables close and everything you need at your fingertips. This bag has a ton of pockets. It fits your phone, money, cards, some lip gloss and a small sunblock. It even has a detachable long strap and attachable short strap. Perfect for a walking taco tour!

In the same closet, I came across this wonderful little cosmetic/toiletries travel case. Small enough to fit in your carry-on, its 8x6 inches. And how cute is it? It has 5 inch drawers that pull out, even spots to hang items. Use this one case for your makeup, toiletries, and jewelry.

If you are traveling somewhere hot, you will definitely need plenty of hair ties. And if you're like me, you lose them all the time! So having a bunch of hair ties is essential. Take a look at these spiral coil phone cord hair ties. Not only are they gentle on your hair and prevent breakage, you can easily wear it as a bracelet! Very cute.

Now on to more accessories. I love to travel with a few versatile pieces of jewelry that are cute but not too flashy. These Rhinestone Wrap and Snap Bracelets are perfect for vacation. You can dress them up for a nice dressy dinner, or down for a casual souvenir shopping day. Shinny glittering rhinestones make these sparkle. And how 90's chic is the snap bracelet!

Available in three different colors, making these excellent for mixing and matching. I like the blue one!

As far as clothes, if you've read my previous blogs on the topic, you know I like to travel extremely light. That means packing only a few versatile and simple pieces you can easily mix and match. A few shorts, tanks, bathing suits, cover ups, and one cute outfit for a night out. I do have a very light weight cover up dress available in my closet that can easily double as a light weight dress for an afternoon stroll. I love anything that can double up as another outfit.

For bathing suits, a cute bikini top is also key. And again, I personally enjoy being able to mix and match tops and bottoms.

This gold Victoria's Secret top makes for a nice winter bikini. Mainly because its gold! Peach with gold circles, it will look excellent at the beach.

And there you have it! Some small essentials to bring with you on a tropical winter getaway. Shop any of these wonderful posh closets. Simply click on the pictures to get any of these items available now.
