Boutique items are basically items that you purchase directly from wholesalers or distributors just for the purpose of reselling. These items are usually purchased at wholesale prices and in bulk.

How to start your own boutique:

Its very simple to start your own boutique and start selling boutique items.

Complete your boutique certification.

To get started, simply go to the Account Tab > My Seller Tools > Complete Boutique Certification.

Once you’re boutique certified there are a couple requirements you need to follow according to Poshmark:

Listings must be purchased wholesale or directly from a distributor.

Boutique listings should only include original photography.

Boutique sellers need to comply with Poshmark’s community guidelines.

Poshmark offers a wholesale market where you can easily purchase boutique items directly from wholesalers. You can simply click on shop wholesale while in the sellers tools tab.

Under Wholesale, you can shop by brand, category, and wholesaler.

The low down:

if you're just starting out and want to test the waters, then I recommend trying out buying from the wholesalers on Posh. However, they can be a bit pricey in my opinion. So maybe just start with one or two items.

The quality of the items are good, and you can buy in bulk usually three in a variety of sizes. For example, the romper pictured here. I bought three and they are absolutely adorable. I kept one for myself! I got 3 sizes and they're great quality. That being said, for the amount I paid, I haven't been able to sell them, despite their popularity and the amount of likes. In order for me to turn any profit, I have to sell them for way higher than what I paid, keeping in mind the 20% posh fee.

Other poshers find distributors off of poshmark, that offer lower prices. If you can find such distributor, I recommend going that route. You'll save money. You can also try some other apps which offer very low prices for similar items. Just make sure you research the products and items as they often come from china and are not the best quality.

So far, and I can only speak from my experience, I have not been able to turn a great profit from the wholesale items on poshmark. BUT I have found great items for myself!

Once I learned about the other distributors off posh, I was able to purchase some lower priced items to resell for a profit. Of course, this has just been my experience. I'm sure there are other more seasoned poshers out there who have their system down and make some good money from boutique items. If so, I'd love to hear from you!

As for me, I've made more profit by sourcing and thrifting, picking out those great pieces and brands that people love. Those seem to sell better from my experience.
