How to pack light - NOLA
Updated: Jan 26, 2020
Next month I'll be heading out to the Big Easy! Yes one of my favorite towns. That's right, I'm putting aside my passport and staying domestic.
Nola is indeed one of the most lively and exciting towns. This will be my third visit and I can't wait! I'll share with you some of my packing tips as I get ready to head out for a bachelorette weekend filled with Hurricanes, beads, beer and shenanigans.
One thing I've learned over the years of travel is how to pack light for a trip. I just grab my nifty and reliable carry on and shoulder tote. I'm also excited to take some of my fabulous posh buys with me!
Now bear in mind, there are a lot of very fashionable and chic blogs out there. This, I would say is more for the casual chica. I tend to dress more on the comfy casual cute side especially when traveling. So if this style fits yours, your'e in the right spot! I'll also point you in the right direction on where to score some of these great looks on poshmark.
1. Mix n match
Pick out a few pair of shorts and tops that you can easily mix n match
A word about rompers. LOVE them. That being said, in hot weather, could be questionable. Going to the restroom usually requires undressing. However they are adorable and this lovely romper pictured (from @littlefire33) above makes for a lovely easy breezy coverup for the pool, even makes for cozy pjs! :)
Throw in a couple of light summer dresses, a hat, sandals and flip flops, a pair of comfy sneakers and you're set!
2. The essentials
What's in my bag?
So I signed up for my first Birch box. What is Birch? It's basically a monthly beauty sample subscription box. You sign up, fill out their beauty survey, and get a box of samples each month. If you're a beauty junky like me, then you LOVE samples. You get to try new products and then buy the full size of the ones you love!
Since this was my first box, I got a second one free! I got some pretty nifty stuff perfect for my trip.
I love Ouai hair products. This volume boosting spray is perfect for traveling to give your hair a little lift. (Although with the humidity, I may not need it!) Did I mention Ouai is cruelty free? Added bonus.
Next is Korres Wild Rose Makeup Melter cleansing oil. Massage this on after you wash your face, then rinse off. It not only smells great, it leaves your skin feeling clean and soft.
Lumiere d'hiver Clarifying Shampoo. Yes hotels provide little shampoos, but I find those drying and not enough if you're sharing a room, so I always like to bring my own.
Michael Kors Gold perfume, perfect little travel size. Nice soft yet sexy scent.
Benefit Porefessional. I actually use the full size of this daily. Not only does it minimize the appearance of pores, it actually helps minimize the appearance of fine lines. Just saying. And in that humid pore opening weather, this is a must.
Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer. I love anything coconut. Apply this under your SPF and before your makeup. Leaves skin feeling soft and moisturized. Great for sensitive skin.
Another great cruelty free moisturizer - Air Repair complexion boosting moisturizer. Rich in anti-oxidants, it soothes and hydrates tired skin. Perfect for traveling!
So far, I'm pretty pleased with Birch box. If you're a traveler like me, I'd say it's worth the investment. You get perfect travel sized quality products while trying new things each month. Win Win!
Well that's it! Stay tuned next month as I share (or not) pics from our crazy weekend in New Orleans. I'm sure there will be plenty to share, outfits, street art, and shenanigans.
